The successful candidate will be our License Holder in the USA. Building the business compliance program, supporting the growth and scale of the business, and intaking a brand new client base in the US from the ground up.

About the Ownership Team

”Stealth Startup” was founded by three entrepreneurs. They have a track record of success within the startup community and business world. They have launched, scaled, and sold a Customs Brokerage once before with great success. We strongly believe there is a great deal of positive change still to be made in how the oldest regulated global industry operates. We want to be part of that change and to help address the best way to move toward a global solution that empowers importers everywhere. We are passionate about our work and have a deep understanding of customs services, logistics requirements, startup needs and business operations.

What we need from you in this role

• Build a risk-based compliance program consistent with US Customs Law and Regulatory Framework
• Manage client interaction and business partnership, providing strategic direction on global trade compliance activities and collaborate cross-functionally, internally and externally
• Support global trade partnerships, joint ventures, and overall global company opportunities
• Follow regulatory standard practices to validate and coordinate import/export transactions, execute customs clearance and file import/export declarations, ISF filings
• Engage in new and maintain relationships with service providers, including but not limited to customs software providers, contract employees, freight providers, and other software offerings
• Perform data management, analysis and reporting to ensure compliance and provide support in tax/duty disputes.
• Report key performance indicators to evaluate data for risk assessment.
• Conduct complex customs-related research and analysis, using substantial understanding of customs practices and procedures, providing updates to the Ownership Team on changes/strategies you will want to implement
• Develop technical customs solutions to minimize “Stealth Startup’s” ‘liabilities/risks.
• Independently handle complex issues with minimal supervision, bringing appropriate items to the attention of the Ownership Team
• Hire a team of customs brokers as the business grows and provide operational mentorship and training
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Must be a LCB (Licensed Customs Broker) in USA
• 5 – 10 years customs brokerage experience
• Proven experience leading interactions with businesses, clients, CBP, PGAs
• Proven collaboration with peers and demonstrated experience to work well independently and as part of a growing team
• Strong understanding of customs valuation, HTS requirements, and FTA requirements
• Experience developing and implementing a risk-based compliance program
• Bonus for experience with drawback claims, rulings, and CBP audit verification processes
